How do YOU approach technology?

A. I don't have time to use it. Don't know what to do with it anyway.
 

B. My students create three Power Point presentations a year.


C. I like the excitement technology gives the kids - but my mastery level is in solitaire and Candy Crush. I'm too scared I'll look ridiculous.


D. I'm not worried about understanding it all, I just try to help my students navigate through their app / device / website of choice. The focus is on the content, not the bells and whistles.

 

Most of us are Digital Immigrants who are learning to adapt to life on the prairie. I'm a person that is on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Snapchat. I have all the recent Mac products. My phone is always an arm's length away. And yet I STILL have to train my brain to "think" digitally. It's like talking in another language.

 

Our students are not the "ELL" students we are. They natively speak Technology. They think this way. Their brains are mapped to understand the potential that technology has. They were born outside of the box and we need to learn how to communicate with them. We are the foreigners in their world.

Regardless of how you answered the quiz, our 

journey with integrating technology is learning how

to seamlessly use the tools with the maximum

benefit while at the same time, understanding when

the technology needs to be put away.
